A Fishy Tale for sleepless children
Alice, seven,
developed can’t-get-to-sleep problems following a holiday, coupled with her
sister moving into a separate bedroom. It got so bad her mum had to lie beside
her, holding her hand. Nothing helped until the solution came in the unlikely
form of tow goldfish – Freddy and Billy – that moved into Alice’s bedroom, in
their own aquarium, three months ago. Since then, the change in Alice’s bedtime behaviour has been incredible’, says her mother.
‘She’s happy to be left to fall asleep by herself because, she says, “I’m not
on my own anymore,”’ The funky tank comes with a soothing, bluey-green uplight,
which has solved the problem of Alice feeling scared of the dark. Sadly, the
first Freddy only survived for a few days. ‘Alice was hugely upset and it gave
her a good excuse to relapse,’ says her mum, ‘but since Freddy 2 arrived things
have been going swimmingly!’ The Vivo aquarium
