Why house swap?

House swapping is becoming a boom industry with more and more people realising its benefits over traditional holidays. It can offer something which hotels, villas, package holidays or B&Bs will never be able to - it's free. People taking part can be fairly confident that their house will be looked after while they're away.  House swapping is not however without its risks. You can never be entirely sure that your house is in safe hands, or that the accomodation you will be visiting will come up to your expectations. Traditional methods of holidaying pose much the same risks however, but perhaps to a lesser degree.

Swapping will suit you if...

You are an independent traveler.
You are flexible and open to new experiences.
You are an expat and want to go back to an area without staying with relatives.
You fear leaving your home empty during holidays.
You're not too house-proud.

Things to think about...

Who will pay the utility and phone bills?
Will you swap cars?
Who looks after the pets?
Does your insurance cover the swap?
Are there personal things you'd rather lock away?

Many articles have been written about house swapping, the links below are our favorites.
