Melody Mackeown Dip.ION (mBANT) Nutritional Therapist &
Foresight Practitioner
Melody Mackeown is a member of the British
Association of Nutritional Therapists (BANT) and Foresight, the Association for
the promotion of pre-conceptual care.
She graduated with Distinction from London’s Institute for Optimum
Nutrition (ION), completed the Foresight training programme and now specialises
in pre-conceptual care, pregnancy, post natal health (both mother and baby) and
healthcare for all the family.
Nutritional Therapy helps you to work out
what are the very best foods to optimise your health and that of your
family. There’s a well known saying
that “we are what we eat”. It’s truer than
you may think!
Ideally, this process should start 3
months before you decide to have a baby (for both you and your partner),
especially if you are finding it hard to conceive.
"I was
amazed by how effective my dietary programme was. When I got pregnant, I expected all sorts of challenging symptoms
like heartburn, indigestion and constipation. In the end I didn’t get any, and am convinced that that your
advice helped me to have an easy pregnancy.
What’s more, I now have a beautiful baby girl." (LF, Putney)
This also means that when you become a
parent you can concentrate on having fun with your children, rather than
worrying about them. Plus, they are
less likely to be ill and take time off school – which means you won’t have to
take as much time off work at short notice.
“A healthy
child is a happy child.”

your baby, child or other family member may have that can be avoided or helped

As you may know, research has established
that certain foods and nutrients, such as the essential oils in oily fish, can
actually help to make your child more intelligent and better behaved. Incredibly, recent research has also shown
that certain nutrients can help ward off asthma later in life – and this is
especially important if your family has a history of allergies. So you have nothing to lose but everything
to gain by ensuring your child gets the best possible nutrition at home and in
their school lunch box.
But rather than criticise and make
judgements, Melody’s aim is to help you to discover certain foods and habits
that will really make a difference to your family’s mental and physical
wellbeing. Preparing food can be fun -
especially if you involve your children – and getting them into good habits now
may reduce the temptation of dipping into the biscuit tin and opting for fruit
instead!
“It is never
too late to optimise your diet or that of your family.”
Melody has a young child herself (Saffron)
and is convinced that her continued good health and adventurous and fun-loving
personality is in part a result of applying her training as a Nutritional
Therapist to what she eats and drinks.
“Having
recently had a baby myself, I became increasingly aware of the importance that
nutrition and lifestyle can have upon the ability to conceive, pregnancy and
birth experience as well as the postnatal health of mother and baby.”
Melody, works with clients in both Putney
and in the City of London. She also works
with Foresight as a practitioner and is currently working on a research project
on behalf of this respected organisation.
If I see you at
the Earls Court Baby Show 19-21 October, I will put your name (or family member’s
name) into a prize draw for a free consultation and two follow-up
consultations.
